On the Peace Path Through the World

Galtung, Johan: Johan uten land. På fredsveien gjennom verden

Johan Galtung's autobiography is concerned at least as much with the second half of the 20th century as with the author himself. By recounting the story of his life, he mirrors the contemporary scene. Close to his heart is the urge to remind us of the gift of God that we so often take for granted, viz. life itself; and that this gift entails a duty to allow others, too, to live.
The book also dwells on the inner life of a "humanist with Buddhist patches". All the foregoing find expression in the shape of a collage made up of his life story, essays and novelistic sketches, all imbued with the author"s ardent engagement, keen intellect and warm humanity.
