A lecturer, a journalist and a hip hop expert, Nazneen Khan-Østrem (b. 1968 in Nairobi, Kenya) has her ancestral roots in Afghanistan, but grew up in the UK and in Norway. In spite of her Muslim identity she embraced the punk rock and its nihilistic lifestyle, and became a renowned music critic before working as a cultural journalist in Norway’s second largest daily “Aftenposten”, and later as host for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. After her master’s degree in International Relations at London School of Economics and Political Science she worked as a reporter of foreign affairs in “Dagens Næringsliv”. Today she is a lecturer in journalism at Oslo University College.
